The Gorgons are three sisters, daughters of the Old Man of the Sea and his monster-wife, Ceto. They have golden wings and brass claws and, yes, they are monsters according to the rules of myth and men. But they are monsters with a purposes, and so the sisters guard the West Gate of Death, the entrance to Hades on the very edge of the known world in Libya.

They are ruled by the oldest, Medusa.

Medusa is beautiful, all those glorious black curls and large dark eyes. A little queen of only five feet in height (she's still growing), she is passionate and regal, fierce and loyal. She is honest and honourable; she'll never lie, and she'll never break her word. She can be cruel, she can be kind, she can be a flirt and she can be a brat.

Medusa, with her golden wings and brass cat-claws, isn't human.

Medusa also doesn't think that the last bit is at all important.

Medusa mainly takes the form of a very young Moorish woman with olive skin, dark eyes, beautiful black curly hair, and a very sweet face. She is short, curvy, and very obviously not human; she has a pair of golden wings on her back (for those who notice such things, they are shaped like a kestrel’s, and her wingspan is around twelve feet) and brass claws on her fingers and toes that are normally sheathed like a cat’s.

Blood taken from her left side is poison; blood from the right will cure even death. Ask her nicely, and she can charm a protection around you...but then again, she might not.
